My daughter and her husband separated a few years ago. She was subjected to coercive control, verbal abuse and threats. He had a substantial portfolio of property of which he was proud, and there was a substantial mortgage on it. In the settlement agreement, she retained the family home and he got the property.
However, without her financial support, he could not keep up with the payments on the mortgages and so a receiver was appointed and the property was sold.
