How do I enter the New Irish Writing competition in the Irish Independent?

New Irish Writing, the competition that helped launch the careers of a galaxy of authors including Anne Enright, Colum McCann, Joseph O'Connor and Claire Keegan, is hosted by the Irish Independent.

Formerly known as the Hennessy literary awards, it was founded by David Marcus in 1968 and has been edited by Ciaran Carty since 1988. It returned to the Irish Independent in 2020. It has brought about 3,000 writers to a national audience and more than 100 of them have gone on to publish books.
