It’s one of those questions that pops up occasionally and has no satisfactory answer. But we keep asking it anyway.

Just what is the greatest Irish novel of all time? James Joyce’s Ulysses mostly gets the nod and I wouldn’t argue with that, even if those making the claim often haven’t read it.
