Irish Alpine ski racer Cormac Comerford is an outlier on the slopes. He’s familiar with the patronising looks and comments he gets from some of his competitors from the traditional snow nations when he competes on the European and world circuit.

The Dubliner’s background isn’t textbook for an international Alpine skier. Skiing isn’t in his family, he learned how to ski on the artificial slopes in Kilternan, south county Dublin and he grew up in Ireland, not widely renowned for being a skiing hotbed.
