Wicklow boxer Síofra Lawless wins second gold medal at Junior World Championships in Yerevan for Ireland

Greystones native Síofra Lawless has won a gold medal at the Junior World Boxing Championships in Yerevan to become Ireland’s second world champion in the space of 24 hours.

The 16-year-old, who boxes out the Kilcoole-based Four Kings Boxing club, dominated the light welterweight final against India’s Shrushti Sathe, winning all three rounds. She forced her opponent to take a standing count in the final round as she swept to 30-26, 30-26, 30-26, 30-27, 30-27 victory.
