Dicksboro are getting used to the cameras and lights. They’ll be playing under the Croke Park bulbs in the AIB All-Ireland camogie senior final against Galway's Sarsfields on December 17.

Their Leinster final win over St Vincent’s prepared them well for last Saturday’s semi-final success against Antrim’s Loughgiel Shamrocks.

The Leinster final saw Vincent’s duo, Muireann Kelleher and Aisling Maher, wear Body Cams. As did Dicksboro’s Aoife Prendergast.

Episode 1 of the action has been released as part of AIB’s ‘Meet #The Toughest Series.’

“Our game against Vincent’s was a great match,” reflects Dickboro’s Ciara Phelan.

It went down to the last whistle. Ciara made the vital block from Aisling Maher’s late 21-yard free that was steaming towards the sack.

“When you are in a game like that, you are just so focused on getting the win,” says Ciara. “But you see so much more when you watch it back.

“The atmosphere was brilliant. The game was so intense. The Body Cam footage showed all the skills and physicality.”

Fluent Irish speaker and teacher, Ciara, has a favourite proverb: ‘Ní bhíonn an rath ach mar a mbíonn an smacht.’

Meaning you get nothing without effort. “If you are not putting in the commitment, you are not doing it right,” she states.

That’s the bible of Katie Taylor. “She is a credit to Ireland,” remarks Ciara.

Like Muhammad Ali, hopefully Katie will get to fight in Croke Park. The footage of St Vincent’s and Dicksboro splendidly captures life within the ropes.
